Studio vocabulary: account, studio, device, source, scene, program

The basic Webdiffusion vocabulary, to read the interface and follow the help.

All plans · Updated October 13, 2026

A few words are enough to read all of Webdiffusion.

Words for every studio

  • Account: your organization. It holds your plan, your users, your devices, your storage, your AI credits, and your studios.
  • Studio: a production space, with its people, its devices and its settings. An account can have several: one per set, or one per recurring show. In a few technical screens, a studio is called a project.
  • Device: anything that joins the studio: computer, tablet, smartphone, standalone camera. A device joins the studio as a Console or as a Companion (see Join a studio from a device: Console and Companion).
  • Source: what a device brings to the studio (camera, microphone, shared screen), and the media: video, image, slides.
  • Session: a scheduled time slot during which guests join the studio, each with a role (see Invite guests to a session).
  • Take: a recording, with a start and a stop, covering all the selected sources (see Record a take and play it back in the studio).

Live words, with the PCR app

With the Live, Live Pro and Enterprise plans, the PCR app, on a PC or a Mac, produces the studio’s program (see Manager, studio and control room):

  • Scene: a saved composition, with its layout, its sources, its settings and its overlays. You prepare your scenes before the show and recall them during it.
  • Program: what comes out of the control room, the picture and sound that go on air.
  • PVW and PGM: in the console, two screens side by side. On the left PVW, for Preview, what you prepare; on the right PGM, for Program, what is on air. A TAKE puts what you prepared on air.
  • Slot: a numbered box of the layout, 1 being the main one. The same number appears on the source’s tile (ON AIR · 1, PVW · 2), on the Program map and on the monitors.
