Record a take and play it back in the studio

Start and stop a recording from the studio, keep or delete the take, replay it right away and find it in the manager.

A recording in Webdiffusion is a take: one start and one stop, covering every selected source at once. Recording works with the PCR app and in Backstage mode alike.

Where each source is recorded

A source can be recorded in two places:

  • On the device itself: the camera’s own file, in the best quality, for editing.
  • On the server that receives its live video.

The recording button, in the studio header, shows two counters: the devices icon for recordings on the devices, the cloud icon for recordings on the server. Click the counters (Recording sources — click to select) to choose which sources are recorded. With the PCR app, the program can be recorded too.

Start and stop

  1. Click REC to start. Every selected source starts at the same time and the button shows the running duration.
  2. Click STOP to end the take.

The button is disabled when no selected source is online. Starting and stopping a take is available from a Console in the Operator or Director view.

Keep, delete or replay

Once the take is stopped, three buttons appear next to it:

  • Play a recording: choose a source to replay it in the studio.
  • Keep recording: opens the Keep recording window, where you can add Notes, then Keep. Kept takes are saved to the cloud.
  • Delete recording: discards the take.

Find your takes in the manager

Kept takes appear in Recordings in the manager, one row per take with its sources (Device recording, Server recording). From there you can play, download, add a recording to the Video library, transcribe it (see AI credits) or export an edit file for your editing software.
